Discoveries of 100 tonnes of gold on this site – the new forum

In Ivory Coastthe future of the gold sector is taking shape under particularly promising auspices. Australian mining company Turaco Gold has just unveiled an impressive update of the resources of his project Afemalocated in the south-east of the country. According to data relayed by our colleagues from theEcofin agencythe total mineral reserves of the site now reach 3.55 million ouncesor a little more than 100 tonnes of or. A remarkable increase of more than 40 % compared to the estimate of August 2024.

At the origin of this spectacular , the integration of the deposit Asupiri, which is the subject of a very encouraging estimate. This deposit, so far not taken into account, contains itself 820 000 onces d’orthus joining a series of areas already identified, as WOULO WOULO, Junction and Anuiri. This considerable reinforcement redefines the potential of the AFEMA license, now seen as one of the most promising gold projects in West Africa.

Notable fact, more than half of the resources identified are classified in the so - “indicated” category, a level of reliability which confirms the consistency and the continuity of mineralizations on the ground. And it may be just a start. Turaco Gold has announced that several drilling results are not yet integrated into this estimate. A next update, expected by the end of 2025, could still raise the figures and consolidate the position of the project on the regional mining chessboard.

This discovery is part of a favorable context for Côte d’Ivoire, which has attracted major international mining companies for several years thanks to a relatively stable business climate, an incentive mining code and an still partially explored basement. The country aims to cross a level in the years to come and compete with behemoths like Ghana and South Africa.

The dynamism of the Ivorian gold sector is not only due to the extracted. It also reflects a political desire to better supervise the activity, to make it a lever for local development and job creation. The AFEMA project, in full expansion, could thus play a strategic role, not only in terms of production, but also of economic impact in the region.
