A table tennis club was born in Charnizay, on the initiative of Gérard Guibert, a passionate amateur. The latter already practiced this sport with a friend and in an association in Martizay. This allowed him to study the functioning of the club and to improve. His wish? « Share with others this popular sport, to have the pleasure of meeting, each at their level. »
This initiative has brought together, to date, thirty members, men and women, from 8 to 70 years old. The sessions take place on Tuesday, from 6.30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., and have, on average, around twenty participants. « We learn to know the rules, to refine the gesture to be able to play with anyone and, qThere are many of them, playing doubles. We spread over five tables and we turn to face other players. Everything happens in a good spirit. »
“We don’t see time spending time”
The members are satisfied and diligent. « We don’t see time passing. C‘is user -friendly, it allows you to learn to control yourself and the mixture of generations is very nice. » Salome says: « At the start, I am came to accompany my children and then I started playing. » Yves and Sabrina add: « It allows you to spend, meet to have a good time. It makes the village live. I was already playing a few years ago, this is an opportunity to resume aimlessly, to measure up to other people, to progress, to empty their heads. »
-Gérard Guibert explains: « At the start of the session, I introduced the youngest. Afterwards, I play with players or players who Give themselves. SOut, pleasure prevails and we are still here beyond 8:30 p.m. »
The affiliation was made through the football association Charnizay-Saint Flovier-Fléré, whose president is Florent Cadieu. Recently, the association has invested in six second -hand tables in order to be able to consider tournaments later. In the opinion of all members, this initiative is a great success.
