While waiting around the iPhone 17 is becoming larger and larger, Apple would have an exceptional strategy for its next smartphone to come in 2026.
Apple is a manufacturer whose outings are easy to follow. The firm is used to offering four new iPhones each year in September. At the end of its traditional annual Keynote, Apple unveils its new smartphones with a basic model, a more version, a pro model and a pro max.
Things may well be upset in a while. According to several sources from the TheinFormer site and the Ming-Chi Kuo analyst, Apple would upset its plans for the release of the iPhone 18. The latter, initially expected for the month of September 2026, could well be postponed for the benefit of a brand new model: the foldable iPhone.
A foldable iPhone instead of the iPhone 18
You read correctly, Apple would finally be ready to start on the foldable smartphones market. However, this is not the first time that the idea of a foldable iPhone has been mentioned in the press. For several months now has been rumored by the idea that Apple would like to offer the public an iPhone as well as a foldable iPad. The various internal tests would however be complicated and Apple is well known not to release a product before the latter is mature and ready for the general public.
According to information from TheinFormer and Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple would even decide to repel the release of the basic iPhone 18 in favor of a foldable model. The range offered in September 2026 would thus be made up of:
- L’iPhone 18 Slim/Air
- L’iPhone 18 Plus
- L’iPhone 18 Pro
- L’iPhone 18 Pro Max
- L’iPhone 18 pliable
The real iPhone 18 would be offered a few months later alongside the iPhone 18th which will be the “low cost” version of the range.
For the time being, Apple is already preparing to launch its iPhone 17 range which would also include some upheavals with the arrival of the new iPhone 17 Air.
