The abuser and torturer of children René Osterwalder died in Pöschwies prison in Regensdorf (ZH). He committed suicide with the help of an accompaniment organization in death.
The man was sentenced in 1998 to 17 years’ imprisonment and internment. He died on April 16, the Keystone-ATS department told the Canton of Zurich on Monday, thus confirming free daily newspaper 20 mini.
-René Osterwalder had been interned since 1998. In May 1998, he was found guilty of attempts at assassinations, serious bodily lesions and sexual acts committed on children and people unable to discern. He had notably abused a baby and a small child and had tortured them. He had also filmed his misdeeds.
In June 2000, the Federal Court confirmed the penalty and internment of an indefinite duration of René Osterwalder. The convicted person asked for his release several times, the last time in 2021. The administrative court of the canton of Zurich then asked for a new expertise on the danger he represents. The last expertise on René Osterwalder dates from 2010.
