He landed in Lausanne this Thursday morning. The new Airbus H145 D3 rescue helicopter was delivered to the REG 4 crew. He will be the first in Switzerland to operate with this state -of -the -art device, before Berne, Sion and Geneva. The whole region will benefit from advanced performance and new cabin equipment of this device.
REGO has acquired 21 new similar machines, at a price of 200 million francs. They will be deployed until the end of 2026 on its 14 bases of intervention in the country. This is the largest acquisition project for the Swiss Air Garda in rescue.

An intensive care unit in the rescue helicopter
“A new cabin has been developed to improve patient care,” notes Stéphane Jean-Mairet, ambulancer and chief of the Lausanne database. “It is a real intensive care unit,” says Alexandre Kottmann, an emergency doctor. This new helicopter presented an opportunity for medicine to apply ideas that have come from decades of experience with other helicopters. ”

Twenty other similar helicopters will be deployed until the end of 2026 on the 14 REGS intervention bases in Switzerland.

The versatility of the aircraft is specially useful in the region served by the Lausanne Réga base, which has lakes, mountains, cities and countryside: “We have around 800 rescue missions per year, including almost a quarter of a quarter, estimates Stéphane Jean-Mairet. The range of interventions is wide: it ranges from interhospitable transfers to mountain accidents, including cases of acute diseases. The new helicopter will support any type of patient. ”
By standardizing its fleet, the Rega will still be able to benefit from synergies in terms of crew training and maintenance. In order to exploit the full potential of the new helicopter, the Lausanne crew has also followed specific training on new systems, both in the field and in the simulator.
