A special jersey to celebrate the suburbs
On April 25, an unprecedented edition of the Red Star FC jersey will be flocked in the name of Darling suburbs, In place of the usual sponsor Trust’it, also born in the suburbs and in solidarity with this initiative. A strong gesture, like a nod to this territory which unites and inspires them.
This initiative between the Palais de la Porte Dorée – National Museum of the History of Immigration, and the Red Star FC highlights the values of inclusion, diversity and support for youth shared by the club, its main partner and the museum. It is a continuation of the commitments of the Red Star, a suburban club of its roots.
A dive into what the club represents
Strong symbol of the link between the Red Star FC and its territory, a fragment of concrete from the old tribune of the Bauer stadium inaugurated in 1922 settled in the heart of the exhibition Darling suburbs. Raw sample of an enclosure today in full reconstruction, it symbolizes the memory of a mythical popular stadium, witness of more than a century of football.
To enrich this tribute to the club, his white paper is notably exposed: he traces his rich and prestigious history, alongside several other elements which will be exhibited until August 17.
An exhibition to crop clichés
At the crossroads of art, history and social dynamics, the exhibition Darling suburbs offers an intimate dive in the suburbs. Entrance doors on large cities, the suburbs are perceived through often reducing prisms. For the first time, more than 200 archive documents, paintings, installations, videos, music, photographs, testimonies – including those of Marvin Happiness, Neïla Czermak Ichti, Mohamed Bourouissa, Anne Laure Boyer, Bondy Blog & Hall Haus – are gathered to explore these darling suburbs, places of memory and transmission. From the red belt to the “suburbs” and the construction of large complexes, the exhibition shows a multiplicity of points of view from the end of the 19th century to today.
