Several publications made on Facebook by internet users located in Senegal (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10) announced that the Senegalese government has released a new gate of fines for traffic offenses.
Between May 4 and 5, 2025, online Senegalese media published this announcement on their site (1, 2, 3), some of them have deleted their publications (archived ici62 out of 2025).
On the social network, the supposed government decision was welcomed by some Internet users who, in the comments, noted a good response from the authorities to limit road accidents mainly caused by non-compliance with the highway code and the dilapidation of vehicles.
A decision concerning Togo
Research with keywords Prices – New flat -rate fines – Road offenses made it possible to see that this is not the first time that this information has been published by Senegalese media attributing its source to a ministerial decree in the road transport sector. Since March 2017, online sites (1,2,3) presented the same fines for offenses on the road in Senegal.
-In reality, this decision does not concern Senegal, but rather Togo. These regulations appear in fact in a decree inter -ministerial carrying “modification of the flat -rate fines to be collected as tickets to the road traffic rules” of the Togolese government.
