Abo Mbacké’s judicial soap opera is experiencing a new twist. Despite the decision of the Chamber of Indictment of the Financial Judicial Pool (PJF) granting him a provisional freedom, the businessman will not leave his cell at the moment. The public prosecutor’s office opposed this reduction and introduced an appeal to cassation, informs the newspaper Les Echos traveled by Senego. The Supreme Court is expected to decide on May 15, reveals the echoes in its Monday, May 5 edition.
According to the same source, the indictment had estimated that the reimbursement of the 100 million CFA francs to Mame Diarra Tall was enough to justify the release of Abo Mbacké. This amount had been entrusted to him by the complainant, convinced by the accused’s promises. The latter would have presented himself as close to Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, promising to help obtain gains on treasury bills. A promise that turned out to be fallacious, leading to a complaint for scam.
But this case is not the only one to weigh on Abo Mbacké. He is also chased by the architect Pierre Goudiaby Aepa. The respondent would have claimed to be the adviser of the Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salmane and would have ordered, on his behalf, the design of a villa in Dakar. Aepa would have made the plans without ever being remunerated. Abo Mbacké denies having pretended to be a relative of the prince. However, a search led by the Criminal Investigations Division (DIC) made it possible to find compromising documents at home, establishing an alleged link with Saudi royalty.
The Supreme Court now holds the key to the judicial fate of Abo Mbacké, which remains under the locks while waiting for the hearing of May 15.
