Following this new failure against Soyaux-Angoulême (44-27), this Friday, May 9, Oyonnax descends to the 13th in the ranking.
The match: Othonnaxiens exceeded
Three weeks ago, winning against Valence-Romans, on April 18, Oyonnax Rugby assured its maintenance in Pro D2. This Friday, May 9, the Oyomen fall near the red line. The men of Fabien Cibray were however in the starting blocks, opening the scoring with a penalty of the opening half, Justin Bouraux (3 ‘, 0 – 3). Only a few minutes later, his counterpart Clément Guénat also recovered three points in favor of Angoulême. The 3e Oyonnaxian line Antoine Miquel flattened the ball, a test tuned by the referee after a fault following a touch (9 ‘, 3 – 10). But the Aindinois are unruly, and Soyaux -Angoulême takes the penalty (14 ‘, 6 – 10). In the process, the captain and center Sipa Taumoepeau widens the scoring, thanks to the work of Kévin Lebreton who monopolizes the opposing defenders (19 ‘, 6 – 17).
Oyonnax’s good momentum will not have held over time. In five minutes, the high bugrs meet at 13 on the field, following the yellow cards against the 3e Hugo Hermet line for air tackle (25 ‘), and the right pillar Paulo Tafili for offside (30’). Meanwhile, the Angoumois winger, Jonny May, marks his first try (27 ‘, 11 – 17). Absent in defense and unruly (8 Oyonnaxian penalties against 3 to 36 ‘), the Rhônelpin club undergoes the Charentais game. Soyaux-Angoulême manages to cross the line of Aindinoise in the 35e Minute, on a double of Johnny May. Half -time is whistled, Oyonnax leads from a point (16 – 17).
4 Charentais tests in 2e half-time
Did Oyonnax Rugby get lost on the way to the locker room on the ground? As usual, the high-bugist workforce fails to materialize in the second half. The Aindinois club grabbed only 3 points, while its opponents Angoumoisins chain the tests: Alex Masibaka (45 ‘, 23 – 17), Jonny May (53’, 30 – 20), Clément Glénat (58 ‘, 37 – 20), Bafodé Diakité (63’, 44 – 20). At this stage, the men of Alexandre Ruiz have already obtained the offensive bonus, despite the test of 3e Ligïc Godener line (68 ‘, 44 – 27). The high bugrs lose the meeting.

The number: 6 tests cashed
This Friday, May 9, the Oyomen did not get off the bus to the Chanzy stadium. Indiscipline, absence of tackles and lack of concretization, Oyonnax Rugby was dominated by Soyaux-Agoulême for 60 minutes of play. An absence which cost them dear: the Aindinois collected 6 tries.
The fact: a descent to the 13e place
Fabien Cibray’s workforce is once again approaching the red line (13e), in a match at the end of the championship. The Oyonnaxiens are only 5 points from Aurillac (15e), who won his meeting against Nevers (May 9, 21 – 20). The dam will depend on the results of Aurillac against Montauban and the meeting of Oyonnax against Provence Rugby, on May 16.
