The world of football is in mourning. The Gabonese international striker Aaron Boupendza, who passed in particular by the Girondins de Bordeaux, the Pau FC or the FC towers, died this Wednesday in China in tragic circumstances.
According to information relayed by the Romanian media Fanatik.ro, Aaron Boupendza had a deadly fall on the 11th floor of a building located in China, a country where he has been playing since last January under the colors of the Zhejiang FC. An investigation was opened by the local authorities to shed light on the circumstances of the drama, and the hypothesis of suicide is also envisaged. The sad news was confirmed by Marius șumudică, Rapid Bucharest coach, former player’s club, in statements reported by GSP.ro. The Chinese club would have found its absence in training without being informed of its situation.
Transferred last January for 800,000 euros from Rapid Bucharest to Zhejiang FC, Aaron Boupendza had given no alarming sign before the drama. Trained in Gabon, he had had a traveling career in Europe and the Middle East: passed through France (Bordeaux, Pau, Tours), Portugal, Turkey, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and more recently the United States. 28 years old, Aaron Boupendza was recognized for his explosiveness and his sense of goal. He leaves behind the memory of a talented attacker and a man appreciated in the locker room.
