Valais police have blocked nearly fifty caravans of travel people on the A9

Travelers tried on Tuesday morning to enter nearly 50 caravans on the Cantonal Territory Valaisan, without prior ad. The cantonal police have set up an important device to avoid any wild installation.

Blocked for almost 8 between the tunnels and the exit of Saint-Maurice, the approximately 150 people ended up turning back and resuming the direction of the view-alpes, from where they had arrived previously. They were escorted by representatives of the Vaud cantonal police.

Around 11:30 am, specifies the cantonal police in a press release, several dozen caravans with plates, properties of traveling people circulated on the A9 from the canton of Vaud in the direction of Saint-Maurice.

A single place devolved to traveling people

From Villeneuve, traveling people have refused the injunctions of Vaudoise and Valais cantonal police to borrow the different outings. Faced with this behavior, the decision was made to block the convoy in Saint-Maurice.

Valais has only an official place devoted to traveling people. Located in Martigny, the latter is currently fully occupied. “We do not tolerate wild installations [ndlr: dans le canton]recalls the Valais cantonal police.

In order to prevent access to Valais, the cantonal police have deployed an important device. As a security measure, the motorway section was closed between Bex and Saint-Maurice in the direction of Sion and between Martigny and Bex towards Vevey. The deviation takes place on the cantonal roads with its share of traffic jams. The Cobra plan has been launched. This plan represents a mobilization of all the units of the Valais cantonal police.

Leaving earlier in the morning of the canton of Neuchâtel where they were parked, these traveling people had previously contacted the owner of a field in Gampel in Haut-Valais. The municipal council had refused this rental. The owner had in terminated the contract.
