This measure was considered as an instrument in the hands of the executive to be able to exclude students from their universities, since the new text provides that the members of the regional disciplinary commissions and their mode of operation are decided by decree, therefore by the executive.

The bill was criticized by the deputies of rebellious France (LFI) who criticized the government “for instrumentalizing anti -Semitism to silence the voices for peace in Palestine”.

The left also pointed out a “vague” in the drafting of the bill, calling it as danger to social movements in the university, but also with regard to academic freedom.

Reacting to this new law in the columns of Médiapart, Léa Jules-Clément, spokesperson for the student union pointed out “a real Trojan horse opening the door to the repression of all student mobilizations (…), [notamment à] Those who mobilize for peace in Gaza “.
