A 12 -year -old was transported in an emergency to the Timone hospital Thursday evening, after an accident involving his electric scooter and a car. Suffering from a head trauma and major leg injuries, he was admitted to resuscitation service with a committed vital prognosis.
A septuagenarian heard by the police
The collision occurred around 6 p.m., avenue de Frais Vallon, in the 13th arrondissement of Marseille. Unhappy but shocked, the septuagenarian who led the vehicle involved in the collision was heard by the police.
Strictly prohibited on the public roads under 12, the use of the scooter has become in a few years a means of transport acclaimed in Marseille, in particular by young people. But if the scooter broke popularity records, it also displays records in terms of accidentology and gravity in injuries.
The skull often affected
Last February, two adolescents, aged 13 and 14, who circulated aboard a scooter on avenue du Prado 2, in the 8th arrondissement of Marseille, had been overthrown by a motorist. In December 2024, still in the Prado sector, a young woman with scooter had been struck by a bus and seriously injured. A few months earlier, a 34 -year -old man had been transported to the hospital with a vital prognosis hired after a fall on Boulevard Vauban. In March 2024, a 38 -year -old man who died in the northern districts of Marseille in the collision of his electric scooter with a truck.
In a European Center report, security studies and analyze risks (CEESAR), the authors note that the victims are mainly affected by the skull, “result of a fall forward which makes the cephalic end very exposed“. Dental tears and dislocations are frequent, as are fractures of the nose, cheekbones, orbit, maxillary”and, in extreme cases, a cranial-facial disjunction or a facial crash“. In other words, the head fractured in several pieces.
