Insofar as it directly concerned the employment of a certain number of civil servants in the city, the point was discussed in camera during one of the last municipal councils devoted to the budget. As part of the forced economies plan forced by the abyssal debt of the city of Liège, the municipal authorities are considering the end of the provision (generally free of charge) of municipal agents for the benefit of certain associations or cultural centers of Liège. It is a kind of “personnel” subsidy to help them work better by “lending” them an administrative, an accountant, etc …
In a tight budgetary context, the municipal college therefore plans to repatriate these detached agents, so that they return to the services of the city. For associations, of course, this will represent a hard blow since they will have to either (engage and) finance the jobs concerned themselves, or operate with fewer means … or, for some, downright ceasing their activities.
According to our information, Liège currently has around fifty detached agents.
