He asked the party to immediately start the process of selecting a chief.

Pillai said in a press release that the Liberals have made a lot of them in the past nine years in power, in particular by bringing the redundancy of telecommunications in the North with the Dempter Fiber project, by investing significantly in renewable energy infrastructure and by making the planning of land use and conservation .

“The Yukon is an extraordinary place, where dreams come true and lives flourish. It was a privilege to serve as a deputy to wear Creek South, as a minister and as a Prime Minister, “he said in the press release.

“I would like to thank my wife and sons for their support. I can’t wait to take a step back from public life, spend more time with my friends and and enjoy everything our incredible territory has to offer, “he added.

A press release from the Yukon Liberal Party indicates that the members of the Executive Committee will meet on Tuesday to discuss the terms of the race for the chiefdom.

Liberals are currently holding a minority government and have entered into an agreement to trust and supply with the new Democratic Party (NPD).

The next territorial elections must take place no later than November 3.
