“Artistic routes of Saint -Louis” (May 3 – June 3): a creative effervescence wins the north

The 11th edition of the “artistic itineraries of Saint-Louis” opened, Saturday May 3, 2025. Until June 3, 76 works of art of 40 artists are exhibited at the Research and Documentation Center (CRDS, ex-IFAN).

Saint-Louis-Colors, expressions. There were people on Saturday May 3, 2025, at the Senegal Research and Documentation Center (CRDS, ex-IFAN). Cultural actors, art lovers, families of artists came to attend the opening of the international exhibition “artistic routes of Saint-Louis”. This initiative of the NDAR Creation association is entered in the Senegalese cultural agenda. The 11th edition saw the participation of beautiful signatures of contemporary Senegalese creation. Anta Germaine Gaye, Serigne Ndiaye, Tita Mbaye Adama Sylla who will accompany the 40 selected artists for a month and exhibit their works. “This exhibition is an intergenerational dialogue with the deans Tita Mbaye, Serigne Ndiaye. We have also seen other artists of different generations, with whom I attended the National School of Arts, such as the Sadi whose talent I recognized very early, “said Abdou Simbandy Diatta, director of culture, who came to represent the Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture.

Mr. Diatta praised the presence of an audience of Saint-Louisien at this exhibition, which shows the accessibility of culture to all. For the Director General of Culture, this comes straight with the supervision policy. Abdou Simbandy Diatta pleaded for the conservation of cultural heritage. “We are responsible for keeping what we have received from our grandfathers, safeguarding what we produce, what we have collected as a pool of our experience, in order to be able to transmit it to our ,” said Diatta. This is why, he added, a dialogue between the different generations is also important. “Especially when this dialogue is made up of colors, artistic expressions,” said Abdou Simbandy Diatta. He has magnified the holding of this exhibition outside Dakar, adding that the authorities will support cultural initiatives in the regions. “Art must go to the regions. He must decentralize himself. Naturally, we will support cultural initiatives that go to the public, to the people, ”he concluded.

Abdoukarim Fall, visual artist, initiator of the artistic routes of Saint-Louis and president of Ndar Création, welcomed this edition. “As artists, we need to do cultural activities to promote our art. These exhibitions allow us to put the spotlight on our , ”said Mr. Fall.

This 11th edition of the “artistic routes of Saint-Louis” receives the Gambia as a guest of honor. A delegation of cultural actors in the country marked its presence at the opening ceremony. Forty artists from Senegal, Gambia, Mali, the Democratic Republic of Congo, France and the States participate in this exhibition marked by painting, sculpture, mosaic.
