(OTTAWA) Canada has displayed a trade deficit in goods of 506 million in March, exports to the United States having decreased with the entry into force of new customs duties, while shipments to other countries have increased.

Statistics Canada specifies that this result is to be compared to a deficit of 1.4 billion in February.
Total exports fell slightly 0.2 %to 69.9 billion in March, exports to the United States dropped by 6.6 %, while exports to countries other than the United States has advanced by 24.8 %.
-Imports decreased by 1.5 % to quantify at 70.4 billion, imports of metal products and non -metallic mineral products that dropped by 15.8 % and those of energy products by 18.8 %.
The commercial surplus of Canada’s goods with the United States reached 8.4 billion in March, compared to 10.8 billion in February. The country’s trade deficit with countries other than the United States increased from 12.2 billion in February to 9.0 billion in March.
In volume, total exports increased by 1.8 % in March, while imports declined slightly by 0.1 %.
