Where does thunder risk rumbling on Tuesday?

A system has entered Quebec and it moves very slowly, which opens the door to so - more disturbed time. The energy available for thunderstorms will be mainly present Tuesday in the afternoon and evening.Storm3

Tuesday, the area most at risk of finding itself under the thunderstorms covers a good part of the Outaouais, the Laurentians and the Lanaudière, as well as the Montérégie and the Great Region of Montreal. These sectors could see thunderstorms. Some of these thunderstorms could produce violent thunderstorms in our Ontario neighbors, as shown in the orange area on the map.ORAGE1

It is not impossible that some of these stronger thunderstorms have wanted to come and visit Quebec, but generally, thunderstorms scheduled for Tuesday in Belle Province would be more of the “non-violent” type.

What criteria will be checked?

In order for a thunderstorm to be qualified as violent, it must some specific criteria established by Environment Canada: gusts of more than 90 km/h, more than 50 mm of rain in an hour or snacks over 2 cm in diameter. Regarding Tuesday’s thunderstorms, some of these criteria could be reached in Ontario.Thunderstorms6

Thunderstorms should not be violent in Quebec on Tuesday, but strong rain and potentially big harsh could still be there.

An active season that continues on its momentum

Note that the risk of thunderstorms continues on , this time in a slightly more generalized way on the St. Lawrence Valley. By Wednesday evening, some sectors could receive 15 to 25 mm of rain, or even 30 mm locally. The sectors further north of the should be the most watered. Under thunderstorms, precipitation could vary and be more abundant.
