McLaren F1 signed a double in Miami, Oscar Piastri who won before Lando Norris. Zak Brown, the CEO of the team, welcomes successful management, with an initial objective which was not to make a mistake at the start.
“It was a solid race, we knew that we had a good racing pace, we had to be patient at the start. It was clear that we had the two fastest cars, we just had to go and once we did it, everything was under control” Note Brown, who thinks that Max Verstappen did not comply with the international sports code at the start against Lando Norris.
“It seems that he was inside and if someone is next to you, you have to give him room. It was not the case here but Lando signed a very beautiful second place. It’s a bit unhappy, it was complicated during these first laps, but everything is fine.”
The American recalls that the pilots who are missing their first attempt against Verstappen have a more difficult situation: “Oscar was able to spend Max faster, and if you don’t have it the first time, it becomes more difficult. He had caught it quickly, but they did a good job.”
-At the end of the race, Norris tried to walk Piastri, without success: “They are free to fight, if they decide not to do it it suits me too. But they are free to fight, and if you look at the times on the turn, there was no margin, so they both did a good job.”
Brown denies that the victories so far has been easy this season, and he thinks that the chained successes have been made thanks to a good operational mastery: “It’s five or six, and statistically we dominate.”
“But for having been on the wall of the stands during the victories, we did not control here, Australia was difficult, and during the other three victories, we did not even have the fastest car, we were better in terms of operational.”
The American refutes that McLaren has already taken a step towards both titles: “There is still G -Time left. At that time last year, we were third in the championship and the team that led finished third, while we managed to be champions, so it remains time.”
