Valais continues to attract companies from other cantons. The CRIF company calculated the changes of address of social reasons within Switzerland last year. Since 2021, Valais has recorded the strongest net arrival of companies (difference between arrivals and departures) on its territory. In 2024, the positive balance was 88 companies.
In this ranking, Valais is followed by the cantons of Appenzell Rhodes-Estériors (65) and Friborg (39). The Valais above all attracted companies from the cantons of Vaud (101) and Geneva (83). In the canton of Friborg, companies mainly came from the cantons of Vaud, Bern and Geneva.
The most important net emigration was recorded in the canton of Zurich, which lost 133 companies. The other cantons with a strong net emigration are Vaud (-87), Lucerne (-61) and Berne (-46). The companies in the canton of Vaud have moved to the cantons of Geneva, Valais and Friborg.
In 2024, 37,816 companies transferred their home within Switzerland. Just over 80% of all changes in domicile took place in the same canton and 7,470 companies have moved to another canton.
