As part of the International Forum of Young Socialist and Social Democrats organized in Marrakech, Latin American parliamentarians have reiterated their solidarity with the African continent by expressing their desire to work with Morocco to fight injustice and ensure the defense of peace and security.
During this event which brought together 30 countries of four continents, more than 120 participants considered Morocco as an essential player in regional geopolitics, engaged in a continuous approach for the common good of its African neighbors and its international partners.
Morocco’s geopolitical role in the rise of Africa
The president of the Andean Parliament, Gustavo Adolfo Pacheco Villar, expressed its admiration for the growth and development of Africa, in particular in recent years, stressing that “despite external interference, many African countries are working together towards a common objective which is sustainable development in a context of security”.
Mr. Villar stressed that Morocco is not only the link between Africa and Europe, but that it also maintains, thanks to its Atlantic facade, fruitful links with Latin America. He added that with its abundant resources and its growing consumer market, Africa can become a key link in global supply chains, the Cherifian kingdom playing a crucial role in this development.
“Africa is considered to be the cradle of humanity and its renewal is perceived as a positive trend,” said Gustavo Adolfo Pacheco, highlighting the positive and united position of Morocco in the face of electricity failure that Spain experienced, which testifies to the growing influence of the kingdom on the world scene.
The speaker underlined the strategic situation of Morocco and his diplomatic and administrative capacities, in particular in his relations with the European Union, Stressing that the North African country has played a key role in resolving the energy crisis in Europe and that the co-organization of the 2030 World Cup with Spain and Portugal will be an opportunity to consolidate these links.
Young people in South-South cooperation and parliamentary diplomacy
The president of the Andean Parliament has reaffirmed that Morocco has become the world capital of parliamentary diplomacy, welcoming the efforts made by the Kingdom in favor of the development of Africa as part of South-South cooperation.
“There are 56 countries in conflict in the world, when there is not a single armed conflict in Latin America. In fact, we declared ourselves continent of peace because we do not know war, “said Gustavo Adolfo Pacheco, inviting young people to face the problems of violence and injustice that the continent knows.
-“Young people are not the future, they are the present and must take the reins of politics instead of being simple numbers, in order to lead their lives,” he added, calling to protect human rights from all humanity and fight against violence in all its forms, “added the Andean parliamentarian.
Today’s young people are confronted with the phenomenon of migration for humanitarian, catastrophic, warrior, travel or milking reasons, as well as artificial intelligence, by which they should not be mistaken. According to Mr. Villar, faced with artificial intelligence, there is natural intelligence, that is to say artificial intelligence against natural intelligence.
Reflections and pragmatism: development before hegemony
The president of the Andean parliament, Gustavo Adolfo Pacheco Villar, stressed the importance of looking for ways of unity and convergence, far from the ideological conflicts between the parties. In this way, we must bet on pragmatism in harmony with the common goods of humanity for all those who are interested in politics.
The Andean socialist explained that politics is a science that can be predicted, but which also has unpredictable elements. It is not only an art, but rather a combination of science and art, a method and a system that involves research and quest. However, those who engage in politics must be aware of the costs that this implies, in particular isolation, persecution, exile, illness and death.
In the struggle of socialist politicians in power for the defense of human rights, peace and security, Mr. Villar listed the five costs of power: loneliness, persecution, exile, illness and death. These costs are an integral part of the political process.
For his part, the vice-president of the Peruvian parliament, Waldemar Cerrón Rojas, particularly insisted on the importance of giving priority to the development of countries rather than betting on hegemony. “Some countries necessarily focus on development, such as China, and others are betting on hegemony,” he added.
“Hegemony does not allow us to grow, because there will always be one that will be in the lead and who will want others to stay behind. Hegemony is based on exploitation, injustice, inequality, and we do not want our country and humanity to be thus. We want to build a solidarity intercultural community, ”concluded the Peruvian parliamentarian.
