Important fire in a building on rue Joliot-Curie in Epinal.
It was around 6.30 p.m. that the important rescue system was launched following the departure of a fire in a building on rue Joliot-Curie in Épinal. According to the first elements communicated by the firefighters, as well as the information collected on site, the fire whose origin is not yet known, would have started in an apartment located on the first floor. It is the occupier of this one, who, seeing smoke escape from the bottom of the door of his bathroom, immediately gave the alert. The smoke then spread to the second, then on the third floor.
No victim to deplore, all the inhabitants of the building were evacuated as well as those of neighboring buildings. Part of these occupants were absent at the time of the claim. A child, his father and their dog who resided at the attic level had to be evacuated by the firefighters, requiring the intervention of the large scale. The child was transported to the Epinal hospital center for control exams.
-46 firefighters from the Epinal and surroundings barracks were deployed on this intervention, as well as heavy logistical means.
Five apartments are currently uninhabitable: whether by the action of the flames or the contamination by the smoke which has proven to be very important. At a time when we are publishing this information, all the occupants of the affected apartments have not yet spoken on or not to have a rehousing solution.
The occupants of neighboring buildings can gradually regain their homes. The fire is under control, the firefighters finish eradicating the last hot spots.
