Idit and Kobi, the parents of Alon Ohel held in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, presented on Monday to leaders of the Israeli government, the army and the negotiation team, a framework to relaunch the talks. This plan includes, among other things, the evacuation and rescue of the wounded to hospitals outside Gaza for 48 to 72 days, the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza and the conduct of negotiations for a global agreement on hostages. “The humanitarian question can be transformed into a diplomatic opportunity, lives can be saved,” they said.

Israeli officials who have been presented this proposal to examine it, in the of the new testimonies published in recent weeks proving that the wounded hostages, still in the hands of Hamas, are in danger of imminent death.

The framework proposed by the parents of Alon Ohel includes three phases

First phase: evacuation of hostages injured for treatment outside Gaza, in an American located in one of the Gulf countries, or alternately in a European hospital.

Second phase: resumption of medical and humanitarian aid in the Gaza strip for the duration of medical treatment.

Third phase: after the evacuation of the wounded to a neutral country for a period defined up to 72 days and the resumption of humanitarian aid in Gaza, the wounded will return to when a global agreement will be concluded.

At a press organized to present this framework, Idit Ohel said: “Alon is injured, he lost his sight of an eye. His second eye can still be saved. Alon suffers from a serious head and bursts throughout the body that put his life in danger. We heard these descriptions just a few days ago from Eliah Cohen who was with him in captivity. Dozens of grenades were launched there and he was injured.

“We are not sleeping at night knowing that Alon is not at home. We are not sleeping at night knowing that there are aid organizations by many countries that provide care for Gazaouis,” she continued. “What country provides medical care to a single party while knowing that there are hostages injured in danger of death which do not receive medical care? What international right allows this? Gaza violates all the basic international rules by holding injuries without medical care”.

“Negotiations are completely blocked, we know that there is not really any . The humanitarian aid that Gaza and Hamas are asking for is not only a stick, it is a carrot, it is a diplomatic opportunity for Israel to present a framework where the wounded would come out to receive vital care in Gaza,” added Alon’s brother, Ronen.

“We have spoken with government, army and negotiation team officials. We have presented our executive who is based on the humanitarian issue. All of them have promised to examine it. The agreement can be set in motion in humanitarian stages. We call this vital treatment plan for wounded hostages’,” said Kobi Ohel.

members recalled that there are precedents where Israel has been able to act exactly in agreements. The Jibril agreement: an exchange of prisoners that Israel signed in the 1980s with the organization “Amal”, in which the prisoner Avraham Amram had been transferred from Damascus to Geneva. The Tannenbaum agreement: an exchange of prisoners that Israel had signed with Hezbollah, in which Israeli prisoners and Lebanese prisoners had been transferred to Germany for three days until the exchange of prisoners is completed.

The OHEL family also stressed that “no international law helps to have seriously injured hostages without medical care. Humanitarian aid that is and will be provided in Hamas comes from countries and international health organizations. It is inconceivable that these organizations provide medical aid in Gaza while our hostages are in danger of death. The humanitarian question can be transformed into a diplomatic opportunity.”

In an interview given on Monday to the i24NEWS In Hebrew, Kobi Ohel said: “We want to save Alon’s life. We currently know that the negotiations are blocked, which is why we have proposed this idea. We want to know that the injured receive medical care and that they will then be brought back here.”
