Creation and innovation, the two keys to the Laguiolais interior designer Virginie Courty

-

Originally from Laguiole, born in 1981, she created, in 2022, her office, in Vincennes, after having made a career as a consultant in organizations for CAC 40 groups.

“When I enter a place, I note in a few minutes all the little things that do not have their place and those that could be magnified.” His friends talk about a gift. In all humility, she prefers to highlight “know-how”. It is above all the story of an anchored passion that translates “like a kind of integrated scan”.

If Virginie Courty was born in Essonne (91), in 1981, if she grew up from Ile-de-France, her roots, in particular, drawn their forces from the Laguiole side, the land of origin of her maternal grandmother. Since their , his parents have also taken up their neighborhoods in the homeland of the Bronze Taurus.

The Aubrac plateau was the decor, the playground, its school holidays, and adolescents. She has not forgotten: “I remember very well the picking of mushrooms, bicycle walks, flowers collection, sounds of the stream, view of the tower …”.

, if she lives in the Parisian suburbs, she has not the cord with the country. Secretary of the Amicale la Laguiolaise, she is divided between Laguiole, winter, “in particular for skiing”, and Montézic, in summer, in her husband’s home. The happiest are their two Margaux and , elderly, respectively 7 and 5 years. “They have a sense of Aveyron negotiation, good taste,” says the mother.

“I was not going into the unknown”

While she dreamed of the Louvre school (“the design of , the crafts corresponded to my aspirations”, she confirms), her parents did not give her the choice, encouraging him to “a more Cartesian orientation, while my sensitivity was more artistic”: it will be a business school. Over time, and hindsight, she put water in her wine: “It brought me things. For example, the management of complex projects, the art of supporting and transforming …”.

She then worked as a consultant in organizations for CAC 40 groups. In France, then in London for two years, she thus contributed to the deployment of new projects in compliance, robotics, sustainable finance, in particular in the banking environment. A career certainly but with a catch: “It was impossible for me to reconcile professional and personal life. It could not therefore . I saw my daughters ten minutes a and I reconnect at night”.

She thus decided to this page and to live from her passion by creating the Maison Courty, an architecture cabinet, in May 2022. “It is a that was familiar to me because my grandparents but also my parents had decoration shops, specialized rather in the tableware. I was not going to the unknown, insists Virginie Courty. Renovation-decoration per year, I continued to browse the “Maison & Object” all semesters, and also followed by drawing and art history training linked to interior architecture during the evening “.

The Laguiolaise is therefore categorical: “Today, my sites fill my days. I getting up in the morning. My retraining is the decisions”. Home Staging, design, site monitoring …, Virginie Courty has several strings to her art, with, as playgrounds, apartments or houses for individuals, shared offices, the transformation and optimization of rental goods, furnishings, restaurants …

She has just finished her intervention in a well-known establishment (re) known to Aveyron, in this case the Café de Pauline, located court Saint-Émilion, in Bercy, in the 12th arrondissement of Paris. She talks about it with emotion: “I was, in fact, very touched to be chosen, because the owner is Laguiole, like me. The specifications was to refresh the establishment”.

She therefore looked into lighting and her lights, furniture, curtains, walls, painting, bar, logo … and to conclude: “I am passionate about Art Deco, geometry and I like to find solutions. Things will crescendo …”.
