Boss of a dozen trendy New York restaurants, Keith McNally has a well-filled career rich in anecdotes.
“I regret almost everything”. If the title of the book to be published by the New York restaurateur Keith McALly is enigmatic, he promises a host of anecdotes on the one who holds or held some of the trendiest addresses in Manhattan and this, since the 1970s.
Suffice to say that the restaurateur has seen generations of more or less famous customers pass on which he did not fail to have an opinion or noted some tasty memories.
At the New York Magazine, Keith McNally delivered a few pages of his memories but he also granted an interview in which he names his worst client: Patti Smith.
-According to the restaurateur, the singer of “Becaus The Night” often dined at “the Italian Eatery”, a very popular establishment in the city. She often came there with her boyfriend at the time, photographer Robert Mapplethorpe.
“Patti Smith has been incredibly imposed on servers,” recalls McNally. “Impossible to listen to a song by Patti Smith today without remembering her making a waitress cry because she had forgotten to put bread on the table,” he told Ny Magazine.
The restaurateur’s revelation has since been confirmed, since then, by numerous testimonies which also evoke incidents with the 78 -year -old singer.
The New York Post recalled that in 2022, McNally had made the headlines after prohibiting the entry into one of its restaurants in James Corden due to the rough behavior of the British actor of the Late Show towards the staff.
