India and Pakistan have accepted an immediate ceasefire. The information was first announced by the President of the United States, Donald Trump, early Saturday morning on social media. Islamabad and new Delhi later confirmed the truce.
After a long night of discussions under the mediation of the United States, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have accepted a total and immediate cease-fire. Congratulations to the two countries for having made common sense and a great intelligence
wrote Mr. Trump on Truth Social.
On X, the American secretary of state, Marco Rubio, provided some details. The ceasefire was negotiated between the Pakistan military operations manager and his Indian counterpart during a telephone exchange on Saturday afternoon, said the secretary of the Indian ministry, Vikram Misri, before the press.
According to the American Secretary of State, the governments of India and Pakistan have agreed to start talks on wider issues in a neutral place
.
However, an Indian government source said that the two countries did not plan to discuss something other than ceasefire.
Around thirty countries involved in negotiating the agreement
The Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar confirmed that Pakistan and India had accepted the ceasefire, and added that a thirty countries had participated in negotiation efforts.
Pakistan has always endeavored to ensure peace and security in the region, without compromising its sovereignty and its territorial integrity!

Pakistan reopened its airports and its airspace after the announcement.

The worst confrontation for 20 years
Islamabad and New Delhi had been engaged for several days in their worst military confrontation for decades, exchanging drone attacks, missiles and shots on their disputed border in cashmere.
This new climbing between the two neighbors, rivals since their separation in 1947, was triggered by a terrorist attack which killed 26 people in the tourist town of Pahalgam, in Kashmir Indian, on April 22.
New Delhi accused Islamabad of supporting the jihadist group which she suspects of the attack, which her neighbor firmly denied.
After diplomatic sanctions and threats to the sharing of water from the Industry river, the two countries conflict on Wednesday.
That day, India led strikes on several Pakistani cities claiming to destroy there terrorist camps
triggering a spiral of attacks and counterattacks.
Again on Saturday morning, Pakistan announced that it launched its response after Indian missile fire on military bases, including one at the gates of Islamabad.
