Benoît Cosnefroy did not take long to bounce back. 2nd in Châteaulin at the L’Alne curls, the Decathlon runner Ag2r La Mondiale this time did not miss the mark and won for the third time in his career at the top of Cadoudal, at the Morbihan Grand Prix (see classification). But unlike the two previous victories, it is full of meaning for a boy who had not participated in the races for eight months because of several physical concerns. “The years follow each other, but I think they are not all alike. It’s been eight months that I am struggling a little. There, there is all the emotion that goes up. I never doubted that I was going to come back, but winning here is a symbol for me, I am really happy. There is something special here. I am happy to win in front of people I know, it represents a lot”.
Very moved during the interviews, a tear flows on his cheek. “It’s a dream to win so early after my cover. I worked very hard to come back. I knew it was going to do it at one point. I had never done a wooden language in my interviews, I always said that I would come back”. In addition, this victory comes in Plumelec, where the race is never really the same over the years. “In the three victories, there is not such a one. We cannot describe this final climb too much, we know roughly how it will happen but we can never reproduce the same effort”. Collectively, it is difficult to find your way around. “It was hard to put the collective in place, nobody really managed to take. We had planned a plan but we did not really manage to put it in place or with difficulty”.
But what has not changed is that in the end, Benoît Cosnefroy made his speed talk to raise his arms. “I stayed concentrated with Paul (Lapeira). I did not doubt in the climb, I triggered. Clément Venturini also launched at the same time, it allowed me to recover at the suction”. Before approaching the rest, the 29 -year -old runner is full of confidence in Brittany. “My program is not drawn with a possible selection on the turn, for the moment I am sure to make the curls of Mayenne and the Dauphiné”. He may know the organization very well, it will be a reunion with the WorldTour event. “It’s been a few years since I went, but I intend to have fun on this race”. Like this weekend.
