Speed and intensity are often thought out as being more effective for fat loss, but a recent study shows that, especially for people of a certain age, walking slowly would work just as well and would be even more interesting.

Back, running, pilates or muscle strengthening are all advantageous sports activities for physical condition and well-being. However, for people who wish to lose weight, walking is not the solution to help them achieve this goal. On the contrary, according to an American study, women, having their fifties, would burn more fats while walking slowly.
-What are the reasons?
Published in the journal Nutrientsthe study carried out by American researchers observed 25 menopausal women who followed a walking program for 15 weeks. They therefore reveal a more significant weight loss on the side of women, including those overweight, which walked slowly. For what ? Scientists cannot offer a clear reason. However, they hypothesized that walking at high speed could breatwhes, which would encourage the body to use glucose, that is, blood sugar, as a source of energy. While in reduced speed, more fat would burn without the body using said glucose, relaying the English -speaking media Women’s Health.
Here is the ideal speed
To be able to ensure the effectiveness of the walking, it would be necessary to travel a distance at around 5.5 km/h. The results say that a moderate look at 5.4km/h over a period of 54 minutes has led to a faster and significant body fat loss, especially in overweight women. On the other hand, faster walking (6.6 km/h) has only shown effects on fat loss after 30 weeks of training.
Scientists warn that the results are not necessarily valid for everyone. The whole thing must be done with respect and listening to his body, without forcing himself and integrating walking daily whether to go to work or to take a walk at the end of the day.
