-Donald Trump announced Tuesday that the Houthis had “Capitulated” and promised that American bombings in Yemen would stop with “Immediate effect”the same day when Israel struck infrastructure in the hands of these rebels supported by Iran.
“The Houthis announced (…) that they no longer wanted to fight. They just don’t want to fight anymore. And we are going to honor this. We will stop the bombings, and they have capitulated ”he said in the oval office alongside Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. “They say they will not explode any ships, and it was our goal”said the American president, adding that the information came from a “Very, very good source”.
A thousand targets struck by Americans
The Houthis, supported by Iran, multiplied the attacks on ships which they consider linked to Israel in the Red Sea, in an essential seaway for world trade.
The main support of Israel, the United States has intensified its attacks on the Houthis since Donald Trump’s return in January to the White House. The Pentagon announced at the end of April having struck a thousand targets linked to the Houthis in Yemen since March 15 and killed many rebel fighters and leaders.
The Yemeni rebels said that a dozen American strikes had targeted on Monday before dawn Sanaa, in the hands of the Houthis who control large sides of Yemen. Israeli aviation also bombed Tuesday for the second consecutive day of infrastructure in the hands of the Houthis, including airport and power plants in Sanaa, two days after a missile shot from these rebels on the main international airport in Israel, in Tel Aviv.
