President Donald Trump said on Monday that the United States would help residents of the Gaza Strip to “get food”, while Israel’s refusal to allow the entrance to the aid in the coastal enclave has been continuing for more than two months.
“We will help them get food. Many people make the situation very, very bad, “Trump told journalists in the White House. And to add: “Hamas makes things impossible because it takes everything that is brought, but we will help the inhabitants of Gaza because they are very badly treated with Hamas”.
The ban by Israel of the delivery of humanitarian aid in Gaza has been continuing for 64 days, while famine again strikes the territory.
The Israeli security firm approved on Sunday, a Palestinian aid plan for the Gaza Strip aid through US private security companies, which will hand over individual and American media to hand, on hand, reported Israeli and American media on Monday.
The new plan, which has no official implementation date, has been approved by all members of the cabinet, with the exception of the Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir, supporter of a hard line.
The Washington Post also reported that the plan would involve American security companies and would be implemented before the end of the month, probably as soon as President Donald Trump’s visit in the region in mid-May.
However, the Israeli plan has been rejected by the United Nations and dozens of international aid groups, which believe that it goes against humanitarian principles, that it is unrealizable on the logistical level and that it could endanger Palestinian civilians and staff.
Sunday evening, the United Nations humanitarian team in Gaza said that it “can only argue plans that respect the humanitarian principles of humanity, neutrality, independence and impartiality”.
Israel has closed, since March 2, the crossing points to the Gaza Strip, preventing the entry of basic necessities into the enclave, despite the numerous reports of a famine that rages in the territory devastated by the war.
Last week, director of the Gaza Government’s media office, Ismail Thawabteh, told Anadolu that the enclave had entered “an advanced phase of famine” due to the maintenance of the passing points and the resumption of the military attack of Israel.
More than 52,500 Palestinians, including a majority of women and children, were killed by the genocidal war waged by Israel against the Palestinian enclave since October 2023.
Last November, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants against the Israeli Prime Minister, Benyamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister, Yoav Gallant, for war crimes and crimes against humanity perpetrated in the Gaza Strip.
Israel is also prosecuted for “crime of genocide” before the International Court of Justice (CIJ), due to the war he waged against the Palestinian enclave.
