According to several concordant sources, including the Korean newspaper The Chosun Daily, Samsung ultimately opted for his homemade chip after several months of hesitation and . This information ends a period of uncertainty during which contradictory rumors circulated regarding the choice of processor for the Galaxy Z Flip7.

The Galaxy Z Fold7, a more premium model in the folding range of Samsung, would retain an Snapdragon processor, probably the Snapdragon 8 Elite. This mixed approach, if it is confirmed, clearly indicates a differentiated strategy for the two flagship devices of the brand.

Economic considerations at the heart of the decision

This decision would be mainly motivated by economic considerations. According to reported information, Qualcomm has increased the price of its high -end chips by more than 20% in recent years, making the exynos option financially more attractive to Samsung.

The more limited production volume of folding smartphones compared to the Galaxy S series would also have facilitated this transition. Indeed, the Galaxy Z Flip sell in less large than conventional models, which reduces the risk associated with the use of a chip whose production yield is not optimal.

Because this is where the main challenge resides: the production yield of Exynos 2500 fleas would currently be estimated between 20% and 40%, well below the 60% generally considered as necessary for effective mass production. Despite this constraint, Samsung would have determined that this yield was stable enough to equip the Galaxy Z Flip7.

Performances and technical characteristics: what should we wait?

The Exynos 2500 which will equip the Galaxy Z Flip 7 is a 10 core chip engraved in 3 nanometers with advanced architecture. In particular, it would have a cortex-x925 heart clocked at 3.3 GHz for the most demanding tasks, supplemented by seven cortex-a725 cores (two to 2.75 GHz and five to 2.36 GHz) and two Cortex-A520 at 1.8 GHz for less gourmet processes.

On the graphic side, the Samsung Xclipse 950 GPU would be based on the RDNA 3.5 architecture of AMD, promising improved graphic performance for and multimedia consumption.

If some users may worry about the performance of this chip compared to the Snapdragon 8 Elite, Samsung seems to bet on other improvements for its Galaxy Z Flip7. The smartphone should notably benefit from a battery of 4300 mAh, or 300 mAh more than its predecessor, which could compensate for a possible lesser energy efficiency in the Exynos chip.

In comparison, the Motorola Razr 60 Ultra, the main competitor of the Galaxy Z Flip, generally uses high -end snapdragon fleas. This difference could constitute an argument of sale for users particularly to raw performance.

An enlarged exterior screen and features

Beyond the processor, the Galaxy Z FLIP7 should make several notable improvements. The outdoor screen would notably be enlarged and perforated, like what Motorola already offers with its Razr 60 Ultra. This would allow more comfortable use of the smartphone in the closed position, so that you no longer have to the device for many daily tasks.

The smartphone should also be launched directly with One UI 8 based on Android 16, skipping one UI 7. This version of the Samsung user interface should bring its share of new features, especially in the field of artificial intelligence.

In terms of connectivity, the Galaxy Z FLIP7 should support the latest standards, including compatibility with 5G networks and Wi-Fi 7. For storage, we expect options ranging from 256 GB to 512 GB, associated with at least 12 GB of RAM.

An imminent production for a launch in July

Mass production of the Galaxy Z Flip7 should start this month, with more than 200,000 units scheduled before the end of June. The smartphone would be officially presented in July at a Galaxy Unpacked event that could be held in New York.

This corresponds to the usual Samsung strategy, which generally reveals its new foldable models in summer. Last year, the Galaxy Z Flip6 and Z Fold6 were presented at the end of July.
