The very low political participation has the minds of the second round of the Geneva municipal . Out of just over 290,000 potential voters, only 84,000 contributed to the choice of the faces of their municipal political authorities for the next five years. Less than a third of the electoral body (28.77%).

The city of Lancy, with its almost 26,000 voters, experienced the lowest mobilization of the canton in the round (29.2%) and the second round (22.8%). “No one can satisfy it. Democracy is strong if it is based on a maximum of heads, ”regrets Salima Moyard, a re -elected socialist administrative advisor. However, the city has multiplied the actions: it organized an evening of presentation of upstream of the first round, raised awareness of residents and residents foreign to electoral functioning and mandated an association to create workshops addressed to people upstream of the votes. “It is visibly insufficient, adds Salima Moyard.
