A meeting was held on Thursday at the Ministry of the Interior to take stock of the progress of the work in the six cities that will host the African Cup of Nations (CAN-2025), scheduled for next December. The objective was also to review the additional urban upgrade programs linked to this major event.
Participants stressed that the construction and rehabilitation of stadiums are progressing at the expected rate and that all the arrangements have been taken to ensure its completion within the deadlines. More than 120 projects are currently underway in the six cities concerned: Rabat, Casablanca, Tangier, Fez, Marrakech and Agadir.
At the same time, several development programs have been launched to improve mobility, modernize urban infrastructure and redevelop the surroundings of stages, with the aim of guaranteeing the best reception conditions for delegations and supporters.
The organization of the CAN-2025 constitutes a strategic opportunity to strengthen the image of Morocco internationally, to enhance its economic, tourist and cultural assets, and to boost sustainable dynamics in the host territories, said the ministry’s press release.
