Evenepoel, who won the gold medal during the road test and the individual time trial at the Paris Olympic Games last year, underwent multiple fractures, dislocation of the collarbone and bruises to a lung in December, after colliding with a vehicle while he was training in Belgium.
“I count the days until I can start competition for the first time in six months,” said Evenepoel by press release transmitted by the Sudal Quick-Step team on Tuesday.
“I have worked very hard in recent months, especially in training in Spain, and I feel ready and motivated for the Brabançonne arrow,” he added.
The 25 -year -old cyclist dropped through the open door of a postal truck on December 3. The impact was violent enough for the frame of his bike to break.
Evenepoel’s goal this season is to participate in the Tour de France in July. He finished third last year at La Grande Boucle, before becoming the first cyclist in history to sweep the two events at the Olympic Games.
Evenepoel, who is a double world champion, also won the Tour of Spain in 2022.
