The Hiltl Club, the broadcaster or the future: Many well -known Zurich clubs have had to close their doors in the past few months. Now the club scene loses another institution. The main reason: drinking is out.
The latest victim of this starting behavior: the mascotte, a firm size on the upper floor of the Corso house at the Bellevue since 1916. The mascotte is closed due to massive sales inputs, and the final weekend takes place from 12th to June 14th, as the “Tages-Anzeiger” reports.
The mascotte is legendary: thousands of parties and numerous old and new bands – like the Louis Armstrong, the dead trousers or The XX – attracted many visitors to the mascott. The fact that this was nevertheless eventually emerged, says co -operator Alfonso Siegrist. «The boys’ outstanding behavior has changed significantly since Corona. Live healthier – no longer celebrate. »
The income at the bar has dropped by up to 30 percent for about a year, says Siegrist. It doesn’t make it easier that there are so many outdoor events and pop-ups in the city.
-The situation in the Bellevue is also not a competitive advantage: «The boys prefer the urban circles 3, 4 and 5. In addition, we could not play an outdoor area like other restaurants. That was difficult. ” Clubs with a permanent location would have more difficult to survive than ever. The city must therefore think about a new distribution of cultural funds, says Alfonso Siegrist.
The rental agreement expires at the end of 2025. Until then, the mascott is still rented for events. In the future, the mascotte operators want to concentrate on the plaza belonging to their group and are increasingly conducting concerts there.
