Toronto-The Toronto Maple Leafs goalkeeper Anthony Stolarz was forced to leave match No. 1 of their first round series of the East association against the Florida panthers halfway from the second period to Scotiabank Arena on Monday.
The Maple Leafs officially announced early in the third third that Stolarz was evaluated and that he was not going to be back.
Stolarz rejected eight of the nine shots directed towards him before retreating in the locker room at 10:14 am from the median period. He was replaced by the auxiliary Joseph Woll, who had not played since April 17.
Before leaving the meeting, Stolarz saw his mask on two occasions being ejected with his head.
The first occurred at 5:08 of the first period when it was reached by a high shot from the striker of the Panthers Sam Reinhart. The game was immediately arrested and Stolarz adjusted the straps of his mask.
The second occurred at 7:16 of the second engagement when the striker of the Panthers Sam Bennett contacted the head of Stolarz during a scrum in front of the net.
During the following advertising break, Stolarz was seen vomiting on the Toronto bench. It was then that the Maple Leafs proceeded to change the goalkeeper.
Stolarz, who was the auxiliary of Sergei Bobrovsky during the conquest of the Stanley of the Panthers Cup last season, began the first seven games of the Maple Leafs in series this spring. It has retained a 4-2 sheet with an average of awarded 2.21 goals and a percentage of stops of, 901 during the six Toronto games in the first round against the Senators of Ottawa.
Woll presented a file of 27-14-1 with an average of 2.73 and an efficiency rate of, 909 in the regular season. He kept a 3-2 file with an average of 1.78 and an efficiency rate of, 933 in career in playoffs before jumping on the ice on Monday.
