Marie-Pierre Lacroix, a community worker, has lived in the district of the slope for over 20 years, on the edge, she says, of the district she wishes to represent. She broke the votes for the first time in the neighborhood as an independent candidate, during the by-election of June 2024. She had however been defeated by nearly 350 votes by the urban planner and action candidate Gatineau, Catherine Craig-St-Louis. The latter has already confirmed that she was going to run for a mandate as a neighborhood counselor.

Ms. Lacroix therefore returns to the charge, but this time as a member of the Mario Aubé team. Less than a year ago, Ms. Lacroix estimated that political parties on the municipal scene “too often put sand in the gear and cause bisbille”. Today, resigned to the presence of political parties in Gatineau, she believes that “only we go faster, but as a team we go further”.
Challenges
Mother of three, Ms. Lacroix wishes to make universal accessibility an important element of her electoral platform. Housing, the quality of life in the district, the environment and the “economic revitalization” of Boulevard Gréber are also one of the challenges it will wish to address in the campaign. “I will first take the time to reconnect with the community in the coming weeks,” she said. Marie-Pierre Lacroix is the second woman to join the Mario Aubé team, which has a total of six candidates.
Pointe-Gatineau
The Action Gatineau party is preparing its inauguration in Pointe-Gatineau. The district is currently represented by independent advisor Mike Duggan. The latter has not yet made known his intentions in anticipation of the election next fall. During an interview with The righta few weeks ago, Mr. Duggan said he wanted to wait to see the result of the federal election and the performance of the Conservative Party of Canada before making the decision to run for a fourth term as a municipal councilor.

Nicolas Payette-Prévost said on Monday that he would seek the Action of Action Gatineau in Pointe-Gatineau to try to return to the district in November. Federal civil servant, Mr. Payette-Provost completed a bachelor’s degree in international history and relations. He specifies wanting to benefit the district of “accessible, adapted and human services”.
“By browsing the district, I realize that several needs are ignored in the field: incomplete cycle paths, missing sidewalks, a lack of energization of the Baie park, and above all a communication deficit between the city and the residents,” he said by a press release. It is time for Pointe-Gatineau to have a strong voice that reflects the real needs of the population. ”
The Action Gatineau Investiture in Pointe-Gatineau will take place on May 20. The party should also confirm on Thursday, which will wear its colors in Limbur. The current adviser in the neighborhood, Louis Sabourin, has already said that he would not seek a second mandate.
