Marie-Claude Pietragalla, the former dancing juror with the stars, confided in Maïtena Biraben in Mesdames Media. She confided in emotion on the death of her mother.
The youngest generation knows it essentially as a member of the jury of Dance with stars For five seasons, between 2012 and 2016. She also assumed this role in the program Wonders From France 2. But Marie-Claude Pietragalla, nicknamed “Pietra” since its beginnings, was above all an icon of classical dance in the 1990s. She was a star of the Paris Opera for eight years, before choosing to stop in full glory to become a choreographer and explore other styles and other codes. Dance, and in particular classical dance, is often considered a short career, the body having its limits. But Marie-Claude Pietragalla managed to adapt her choreographies. At 62, she thinks she dances maybe more than before, she told Maïtena Biraben this May 2 in the show Ladies Media.
“I accompanied her to the end”says Marie-Claude Pietragalla
It is therefore not so much the body that reminds him of the passing time, but “The death of our loved ones teaches us to be in the world differently”. She experienced a fairly young tragic loss: “I lost my dad about twenty years ago and I lost mom two years ago. I will never be the same again. We can’t get over that. I obviously think of the death of my dad”she explained. “But my mom, I accompanied her to the end. She could not speak anymore, I had the feeling that I could not communicate with her, but that she understood what I was telling her”.
“We are no longer the same” : how Marie-Claude Pietragalla saw her mother’s mourning
Inevitably painful, this episode also allowed him to become aware of certain aspects of his life. “I learned things about myself, about my solitude, what I am as a human being. The loss of a mother is beyond words” “. It is therefore a work of mourning that the dancer had to accomplish. A job that she analyzes as a reconstruction. “It is as if I had been withdrawn a part of me. And it is necessary to rebuild this part. It is difficult and at the same time, it must not be difficult. My mom had a good life, it was a great woman. We stay with these memories that fill us, but we are no longer the same”.
