Jeffrey Durocher scores the winning goal in the longest match in the history of the LNAH
(Jean Doyon) – It was practically in front of empty channels at the Sorel-Tracy Cardin Colosseum that Jeffrey Durocher, spurred, put an end to the longest qualifying series in the history of the LNAH, with the winning goal at 9:52 of the 3rd period of prolongation.
Even if several supporters have been a company gradually the amphitheater on rue Victoria from the first period of equality, this historic match still lasted 109 minutes and 52 seconds in front, 1373 spectators present.
Indeed, it was the first match of the LNAH Grand Final 2025 tonight at the Cardin Colosseum between the 3L of Rivière-du-Loup and the Sorel-Tracy spurred. After having drawn from the back 3 to 0 until the 18th minute of the 2nd game, the sparrows returned from the rear with three consecutive goals to succeed in leveling the score 3 to 3, after 3 periods of play.
Subsequently, we had to hit long minutes of play, sometimes intense, sometimes disjointed, with many attacks and spectacular stops from the two goalkeepers in the presence, until Durocher puts on the famous victorious goal around 12:50 am.
Speaking of the two goalkeepers, Philippe Desrosiers for Sorel and Étienne Montpetit for RDL, they have tapped a large total of 125 caded throws, or 66 to Montpetit and 59 on Desrosiers.
The worst part in all of this is that in about 6.30 p.m., the same two teams will meet in Rivière-du-Loup to play the 2nd game in this final series.
Return Boudrias
Note that striker Shawn Boudrias was back in the alignment of the hawks, for this first match of the final, but that for André Bouvet-Morissette, are back to the game is still undetermined. On the 3L side, Pascal Laberge was back to the game, following an injury.
An incredible duel of guards!
Should we mention from the start that it was an incredible duel of guardian? 66 throws to the goal on the part of the hawks against 59 for RDL, these are impressive figures, but the two guards were literally exceptional. It must be mentioned and also hold it. Play almost 2 games in a row without leaving the rink only once, for Étienne Montpetit and Philippe Desrosiers, it deserves a medal!
The rust was present at the start of the match
The 3L had not played since the last weekend, while the hawks were waiting to know their opponent for 2 weeks. As a result, the “Sorel guys” seemed rusty, while having difficulty finding energy and especially cohesion particularly in the first and a little in the 2nd period.
-It was therefore normal to see the 3L put two goals in the first twenty but it was above all the first which hurt, that of Jérémy Martin (3) in digital disadvantage at 2:02, on passes of Gabriel Denis and Mathieu Coderre-Gagnon. A three attack finally convinced Jérémie Martin to shoot the goalkeeper Philippe Desrosiers, whose washer found a passage even in the bottom of the goal.
Then it was Kasey Kulczycki (4), who played a strong match in the center, who came to add another goal in the 3L column (Alexandre Ranger, Étienne Montpetit) to do 2 to 0. Kulczycki took a big defeat on him, and then execute a shot from the corner of an ice rink at a difficult angle on Desrosiers, for the 2nd of 3L. A goal that calmed the crowd and that Desrosiers would have liked to see again.
The hawks come out much better in the 2nd period, but we can’t beat Montpetit. However, Alexandre Fortin escaped twice without success, each time Montpetit closed the door. Only Boudrias struck the post and came very close.
But, the men of Eric Haley pursue them on their momentum adds a 3rd, that of Thomas Belgarde, his 6th of the series, at 6:21 pm (Michaël Pellerin, Olivier Mathieu), and it was 3 to 0, but the Hawks finally replica with the 3rd of Marc Beckstead (Gabryel Paquin-Boudreau, Simon Danis-Pépin). Beckstead being very close to the goalkeeper managed to push the disc to the bottom of the goal, following a GPB shot.
Two gockstead goals
We find ourselves in the 3rd period and the Sorelois benefit from a power game. This is how Marc Beckstead reduced the gap of a goal by deferring a shot from Paquin-Boudreau to 1:12 at the start of the period. Marc-Antoine Gagnon collects a pass on the game, and it’s 3 to 2 RDL.
And suddenly at 13:11, still in 3rd, Kévin Auger created equality with a goal he worked in front of the Montpetit cage, taking a return to throw and foiled the goalkeeper of the Blues on a washer left free. Passes to Jeffrey Durocher and Marc-Antoine Gagnon, a 2nd, and it’s 3 to 3.
Extensions
What must be remembered from the 2 periods, almost and a half, of extra time, is the blow to the head that Antoine Waked received, by Tristan Pelletier, who has remained extended for long minutes, as if he had lost consciousness. A long time later, he got up and was renewed in the locker room with the appropriate help. Pelletier received a major of five minutes and will be suspended for a meeting, that evening. Waked did not return to the match.
Then came the last moment when Olivier Hinse received a 3rd spend in the match for defender Marc-Antoine Gagnon. Hinse brought 3 against 1, seeing that his teammates rushed to the Montpetit net, decides to shoot with the goal, and it was finally Jeffrey Durocher who, from the reverse, pushes the puck in the bottom of the goal for the goal of victory. All at 9:52 in 3rd extension.
The sparrows therefore win this first LNAH final match with 4 to 3 account. The two teams have an appointment this evening at 7:30 p.m. at the Center Premier Tech in Rivière-du-Loup.
Launchers 66-59 in favor of the hawks and the choice of the three stars 1- Jeffrey Durocher, 2- Marc Beckstead, 3- Kévin Auger.
But, we must also highlight the work of Marc-Antoine Gagnon in defense with an offensive production of three passes and the exhausting performance of the two guards Étienne Montpetit and Philippe Desrosiers.
