The Digital Tunisia correspondent in Béja went this Thursday, May 8, 2025 to the Bab Znayez market, located in Khéreddine Pacha Street, to draw up an updated inventory of the prices of the main consumer products. Between fruits, vegetables, meats and fish, variations are notable and reflect both seasonal dynamics and local offer.
Vegetables and fruits: overall stable prices with some good deals
The market currently offers competitive prices for several basic vegetables. Here are the observed rates:
Sweet pepper: 2 d/kg
Piment meski : 1,4 D/kg
Piment fort : 1,2 D/kg
Tomates : 2 D/kg
Small peas (yolk): 2 D/kg
Artichoke: 2 D/Piece
Potatoes: 2.2 d/kg
On the fruit side, prices vary more depending on the seasonality:
Strawberries: 5.5 d/kg
Apples: 4 d/kg
Watermelon : 5.4 D/kg
Dates deglet nour: 7 d/kg
Red and white meats: the kilo of lamb at 48 dinars
Regarding meats, prices remain high but relatively stable compared to previous weeks:
Lamb meat (Kachir): 48 d/kg
Lamb liver: 50 d/kg
Merguez: 25 d/kg
Chicken: between 6.5 and 7.5 d/kg depending on the quality
Chicken cutlet: 16 d/kg
Fish: sardine remains the most affordable
In terms of seafood, the Bab Znayez market offers a certain diversity, with prices varying depending on the species:
Dorade: 22.8 D/Kg
Corail (mergan) : 12,8 D/kg
Sardine : 5,4 D/kg
Sea wolf (bar or “qarous”): 22.8 d/kg
