The of State chaired this the ceremony for the award ceremony of the National Resistance and Deportation Competition at the Palais de l’Elysée. Created in 1961 at the initiative of resistance fighters and political deportees, the national competition for resistance and deportation plays a central role in teaching history and citizen . A real lever for transmission of memory, it brings together more than 36,000 college and high school students each year, invited to reflect on the mechanisms of persecution and forms of engagement in the face of oppression. The 2024 edition was articulated around a strong theme: “Resisting deportation in France and ”. This subject highlights the multiple forms of resistance – individual, , clandestine or silent – faced with the Nazi deportation policy. He questions the means by which men and fought injustice, sometimes to the hearts of the camps, at the risk of their lives. This ceremony made it possible to reaffirm several strong commitments: that of the State in the transmission of memory, that of the school in the awakening of citizen consciences, that of witnesses and historians in the face of revisionist drifts. On this occasion, President Emmanuel Macron handed over the commander’s insignia of the National Order of Merit to Lili Keller-Rosenberg.
