The Sûreté du Québec is investigating the minor fire on Saturday evening on the field of the former Fatima cinema.
The firefighters only needed about fifteen minutes to extinguish the flames that arose in the disused building, says the director of the fire department, Simon Mary. No injuries or significant damage is brought in.
However, traces of accelerator and human presence suggest an “intentional, even malicious gesture”, denotes Mr. Mary.
The case was put in the hands of the police.
Certain clues indeed suggest that the fire could be of suspicious origin, confirms the spokesperson for the SQ, Frédéric Deshaies.
The sergeant reveals that a minor age has been arrested, interviewed and then released for the rest of the procedures. The individual could face a criminal fire count.
The investigation continues, concludes the policeman.
