Inah Canabarro Lucas, a Brazilian nun recognized as the oldest person in the world, died Wednesday at the age of 116.
The Congregation of the Theresian sisters of Brazil announced its death in a press release, praising its life as “Dedication and devotion”.
Born June 8, 1908, she became the oldest person in the world at the start of the year, after the death of Japanese Tomiko Itoka, also died at the age of 116.
On the day of his 110th anniversary, Inah Canabarro Lucas had received a special blessing from Pope Francis, who died last week at the age of 88.
