Formerly full member of the Céline Dion/René Angélil stable, Garou is now only a distant friend of the singer. “We don’t talk to each other much, I think Céline is really in her world, set back right now. She needs a lot, ”said the Quebec singer in an interview with France TV.

A few days after launching his new album, A better next dayGarou went to Europe to promote it. And some media questioned him about the relationship he had today with Céline Dion.
In the late 1990s, at the height of the success of Notre-Dame de ParisGarou was quickly embarked on Céline’s team. Authors-composers, like Jean-Jacques Goldman and David Foster, jostled at the doors to offer him songs.
The collaboration with Céline had culminated in 2000 during the Mega Success Windwho found himself on the singer’s first solo album, Alone.

“I don’t have enough ambitions”
-Twenty-five years later, the relationship between the two Quebec artists is non-existent to say the least. Invited to the show What an era!on France TVGarou explained his voluntary departure from the professional entourage of René Angélil, after eight years by his side.
“I don’t have enough ambitions, because they wanted to project me on a world career, but I didn’t want it at all. […] We stayed on very good terms, but they [Céline et René] have found it a little difficult that I leave. ”

In interview with RFMthe 52 -year -old singer said on the same subject: “I have to disappoint Céline and René a little.” Garou needed independence and “do things in his own way”.
Have betrayed something
In 2022, in the program Asideon Canal+, Garou had also talked about the distance that had been created with the singer. “We were very close to Céline, I think she didn’t understand when I cut the bridges with them.”
The singer had added having had “the impression of having betrayed something”, while specifying that there was a “unique complicity” between Céline and him. “When you find yourself, it’s magic, because there are a lot of things that happen in our eyes.”
