Guinea-Bissau intends to rage against the begging of children inside and outside its borders. His government announced, on Wednesday, May 7, his desire to repatriate all the Bissau-Guinean children who notably began in Senegal and Gambia, reports Daily walf.
“Zero tolerance for any Guinean child surprised in the street to begged in Guinea-Bissau or abroad,” said the Minister of the Interior, Cande Botche, during a meeting with Imams and Koranic masters. He called on the families concerned to bring back their children without delay.
This initiative echoes the recent will displayed by the new Senegalese authorities to eradicate the begging of children. But according to Botche Cande, Guinea-Bissau risks international convictions “due to the alarming situation of children talibés in the country”. Daily walf Specifies that this is not the first time that the Bissau-Guinean authorities have positioned themselves on this issue. As of 2017, Umaro Sissoco Packo, then Prime Minister, already warned the parents against this “prohibited practice”.
