The 1st edition of the Casablanca International Poetry Festival ended on Saturday in a warm and inspired atmosphere, after three intense days of celebration of poetic speech.
Carried by the ambition of making Casablanca a major platform for poetic influence, this festival aims to enhance Moroccan and Arabic poetry while promoting dialogue between different cultures through a universal and humanist literary expression. In a statement to the MAP, Abderrahmane Chakib, director of the festival, expressed his satisfaction with the course of this first edition which enabled the city of Casablanca to consolidate its cultural dynamics. The festival has honored Moroccan and Arabic poetry, in particular through a tribute to the poet the late Mohamed Aniba Al Hamri, a leading literary figure in the national poetic field, said Mr. Chakib. For three days, the festival scenes welcomed poets from around the world, readings, meetings and intellectual exchanges, he added, noting that this wide range of votes has given the festival an unprecedented international influence for a first meeting. According to him, the second edition will be a greater opportunity to bring together Casablanca poets and aims to connect all the world poetic scenes.
