The foreign ministers of several countries of the Atlantic African States process (PEAA) praised, on Thursday in Praia, the constant support of the Kingdom of Morocco and its leadership for the effective concretization of this process and the strengthening of this space for concertation and cooperation.
In statements to the map on the sidelines of the 5th ministerial meeting of the PEAA held in the capital of Cape Verde, these ministers recalled that the holding of a ministerial meeting of the Atlantic African States process is the consecration of the vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI aimed at making the Atlantic African space a shared peace, stability and prosperity area.
In this regard, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Regional Integration of CAP Vert, José Fiodeno de Carvalho Dias, highlighted the constant support of Morocco and the decisive role of the permanent secretariat of the process, based in Rabat, whose coordination was essential to the advancement of this initiative.
In this dynamic, the head of Cape Verdean diplomacy reiterated the full availability of his country to continue working in a coordinated manner with all the member states in favor of an Atlantic of peace, prosperity and shared development.

For his part, the Gambian Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians abroad, Mamadou Tangara, said that this 5th ministerial meeting illustrates the leadership of Morocco which proves that this process “belongs to us all, knowing that the vision stems from the wisdom of SM the King Mohammed VI which has always advocated that the Atlantic Space” ».
“The Kingdom of Morocco is once again showing leadership by sharing its means. We can only thank SM the King for this fully Pan -African vision,” said Mamadou Tangara, noting that the meeting of Praia also marks the common desire to work together.
The head of diplomacy of Sao Tomé, Ilza Maria Dos Santos Amado Vaz, described the meeting of “very positive”, reaffirming the commitment of his country to define and implement strategies based on political dialogue.
The Ghanaian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, praised the royal initiative which offers a suitable platform to strengthen the bonds of cooperation between the countries of the Atlantic space.
In this sense, the Minister called for intensifying security cooperation to deal with growing threats in the Atlantic space and criminal and piracy activities.
-Likewise, the representative of Benin highlighted Morocco’s leadership for the effective concretization of this process, welcoming the enlightened vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
“This vision is today more relevant than ever in a world in full mutation, fragmented by geopolitical divisions and in search of new balances for its stability,” he said.
The Secretary of State for International Organizations of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, Mari-Cruz Evuna Andeme, highlighted the relevance of this process initiated by SM the King, which offers the opportunity to discuss the challenges faced by the countries of the Atlantic space.
This initiative carried by the Kingdom of Morocco should support the collective efforts of Atlantic African countries aimed at promoting the employment, health and well-being of their populations, she said.
In a similar declaration, the ambassador director general of the Moroccan agency for international cooperation, Mohamed Methqal stressed the importance of this ministerial meeting insofar as it intervenes to implement the initiative of SM the King who advocated this initiative for peace, shared prosperity and the influence of this Atlantic facade.
Mr. Methqal also said that the meeting made it possible to adopt the first report for implementing this initiative since its launch, and to act the various recommendations made by several ministers and the next deadline which will be a ministerial meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in September 2025.
The ministerial meeting of Atlantic African States in Praia follows the ministerial meetings held in 2022, 2023 and 2024.
The Atlantic African States process brings together African countries with an Atlantic facade with the aim of promoting regional cooperation and sustainable development.
