Speaking by videoconferencing during this event, the Minister Delegate stressed that in the right line of high royal orientations, the government program confirms the desire to make Morocco a country which aims to turn into a digital nation.
She added that the national “Morocco Digital 2030” strategy is an illustration of this, aimed at accelerating the digital transition while ensuring social inclusion and reducing the digital divide, to allow all citizens to take advantage of digital benefits. This strategy, a tool for digital transformation in Morocco, is based on artificial intelligence (AI) for its acceleration, she said.
Ms. Seghrouchni also noted that this forum takes place in a context marked by the adoption of the world Digital Pact, a call for responsible digital governance and the construction of resilient infrastructure, noting that the objective is to create an inclusive global framework to promote multi -party action and fill the differences related to digital, data and innovation.
After highlighting the importance of digital technology as a structuring lever for economic and social transformation on condition of setting up an ethical and inclusive governance, the Minister Delegate recalled that it was in this perspective that the UN General Assembly adopted in March 2024 a fundamental resolution for the governance of the AI, carried by the United States and Morocco, and supported by more than 120 countries.
-This resolution, she said, underlines the need to develop and use AI while respecting human rights, throughout the life cycle of technologies and also calls for international cooperation to reduce the digital divide, by supporting developing countries, especially African, in their access to digital tools.
She pointed out that Morocco is fully part of this dynamic, citing in this regard a passage from the speech of His Majesty King Mohammed VI at the Extraordinary Summit of the African Union on the continental free trade area which was held in March 2018, in which the sovereign underlines: “Africa is on the way to becoming a laboratory of the digital world. Digital is changing the face of our continent, daring ”.
