Tangier Med, the port and industrial complex occupying a leading geostrategic position for and its economic partners, consolidated in 2024 a turnover up 12.3 % and treated more than 10 million containers. These performances confirm its role as an economic locomotive of the kingdom and attest to its strategic positioning on the major roads of trade.

The Tanger Med group, one of the largest economic projects in the kingdom and the port in the Mediterranean and Africa, operating in the port, logistics and industrial sectors, has crossed a performance threshold by recording a consolidated turnover of 11.23 billion dirhams, an increase of 12.3 % compared to the previous .

In addition, the Tangier Med port complex has crossed for the first time the symbolic bar of the 10 million EVP containers treated, reaching precisely 10.24 million. At the same time, it recorded more than 10.06 billion dirhams of private investments and generated the creation of 14,034 new jobs, in 2024.

Benefiting from a strategic geographical location at the heart of the Strait of Gibraltar, just 14 kilometers from , the Tangier Med port offers direct access to the East/West sea lines, without any deviation for ships. Located at the crossroads of the major international maritime routes connecting Europe, Africa, America and Asia, Tangier Med stands out as a global logistics crossroads, connected to more than 180 ports distributed in 70 countries.

The group has managed to develop an integrated industrial ecosystem, structured around more than 3,000 hectares of developed activity zones, where some 1,400 companies active in strategic sectors operate such as automotive, aeronautics, agrifood, textiles and logistics. In 2024, these activities generated a cumulative turnover of 174 billion dirhams and contributed to the creation of more than 130,000 jobs.

From another angle, Tangier Med is not limited to playing the role of simple export platform for . He also asserts himself as a strategic hub of international exchanges. Beyond its contribution to intra- trade, the port is used by the largest global maritime companies as a point of transhipment. Ships from Asia, Europe or Americas unload their cargoes there, which are then redistributed to other destinations around the world.

In this dynamic, the Tangier Med group is connected to four major ports, notably Malaga, , ​​Motril and the port of Algeciras, the main Spanish port in the Mediterranean. The latter, moreover, is inspired by the Tangier Med model to strengthen its own infrastructure. The two ports, Moroccan and Spanish, collaborate closely within the framework of a memorandum of understanding aimed at facilitating trade flows and passengers, thus contributing to the optimization of the regional logistics .

It should be recalled that is Morocco’s first trading partner, with a volume of exchanges exceeding 24 billion euros. As such, Tangier Med plays a key role in this bilateral relationship, as a strategic lever for exports and imports. The port also helps to facilitate Spanish investments in Morocco as well as common projects, like the joint preparation of the 2030 World Cup.

All of these dynamics have enabled the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceïma region, where the Tangier Med complex is located, to establish itself as a major economic pole, alone representing 10 % of national GDP and constituting the first destination for foreign investments in Morocco.
