On the sidelines of Gitex Africa Morocco 2025, a partnership agreement was signed on Monday April 14 in Marrakech between the Ministry of Higher education, Scientific Research and Innovation and Huawei Morocco. This memorandum of understanding was concluded by Minister Azzedine El Midaoui and David Li, director general of Huawei Maroc, in the presence of Shen Li, president of Huawei Northern Africa, as well as other leading personalities.
This partnership marks a common desire to anticipate major technological changes in order to prepare Moroccan youth to become a key player in change. It is part of the high royal orientations and illustrates a model of cooperation between the State and the private sector, aimed at modernizing higher education, strengthening digital skills and improving national technological infrastructure. Digital is considered to be a lever for inclusion, competitiveness and cooperation.
The convention is based on four major axes. The first concerns training, with the expansion of the program to university teachers and the regular update of educational content. The second axis is dedicated to scientific research, facilitating the access of Moroccan doctoral students to the research centers and development of Huawei internationally. The third part concerns innovation, with increased support for student entrepreneurship and the promotion of technological projects. The fourth pillar aims to strengthen employability by bringing the university world of the labor market together through concrete initiatives.
David Li, managing director of Huawei Maroc, welcomed this new phase of cooperation. He said:
“The realization of this major agreement is the culmination of a relationship of trust and sharing between the ministry and Huawei Morocco. It is an important milestone for our growing cooperation. This new phase reflects our desire to support the training of the technological leaders of tomorrow, capable of imagining, developing and piloting the digital transformation of the kingdom. »»
This partnership is a continuation of cooperation started in 2021. Thanks to the ICT Academy program, more than 16,000 Moroccan students were trained, 1,400 HCIA certifications were issued, 100 webinars were organized and 4,900 students participated in the ICT Academy competition. In addition, the ICT Job Fair has generated 1,800 professional opportunities, contributing to the integration of young people into the national digital ecosystem.
Beyond the results obtained, this agreement reflects a shared vision: that of an inclusive and innovative digital Morocco, capable of training its own talents to build a sustainable and competitive technological ecosystem.
